Bayern Munich among clubs reportedly eyeing Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier

Chelsea, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich are reportedly vying for the signature of Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

However, Leeds are said to be unwilling to let the Frenchman leave amid concerns over finding a replacement before the end of the January transfer window.

French outlet RMC claim Bayern are interested in Meslier as they step-up their search for a replacement for Manuel Neuer. The veteran was ruled out until the end of the season following a skiing accident after Germany's exit from the World Cup.

Meslier impressed with five saves as he played a key role in holding Newcastle to a goalless draw at St James' Park on New Year's Eve. Although Nick Pope has been their undisputed number one since his arrival from Burnley back in the summer, the Magpies have been linked with Meslier.

Chelsea have switched their first-choice goalkeeper this season, with Kepa Arrizabalaga replacing Edouard Mendy and the report also claims that the Blues are also understood to be monitoring Meslier's situation.

The 22-year-old joined Leeds on loan from FC Lorient in the summer of 2019. He was understudy to Iker Casilla to begin with, but kept seven clean sheets in his final 10 games to help inspire Leeds to the Championship title.

Meslier signed a permanent deal for just £5 million once his season-long loan expired. He has gone onto star in 89 of their 92 top-flight fixtures, and is the youngest goalkeeper in Premier League to play 50 games.
