Battery anxiety is history as new mobile phones will fully charge up in just nine minutes

Fears of your mobile running out of juice will soon be a thing of the past.

That’s thanks to the latest smartphone super-tech which can rapidly refuel handsets.

The news was revealed by Chinese phone maker Oppo at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The firm said that the first devices to be fitted with the new charging power will be unveiled this summer.

Oppo showed how its SuperVooc tech fully powers up from one per cent to fully charged in nine minutes.

An Oppo spokesman said: "We have been working on Vooc technology since 2014. It was relatively fast back then and it has carried on evolving.

"It's not just about speed. It is also about doing it in a way that is safe for our customers.

"For example, if you just try to put more power into a battery without safeguards, it may cause longer term battery damage that causes it to degrade quicker over time."

The technology also means some mobile phones will become smaller and slimmer.

This is because there will be no need for giant batteries when you can fill them up in a matter of minutes.

Apple and Samsung are said to be developing their own fast-charging batteries, as both companies believe it to be an important selling point for phones.

Oppo’s sister company OnePlus announced it will be introducing 150w Supervooc charging in the second quarter of 2022.

The super-fast charging will be enabled by a customised twin battery, industry-leading battery PCB protection board and a highly integrated microcontroller to improve overall charging efficiency.

The firm said that this new charger can refuel a 4,500 mAh battery to 50 per cent in just five minutes.

Find X5 Pro

Meanwhile, Oppo has announced that is Find X5 Pro flagship smartphone is coming to Ireland this Spring.

The firm said it sports innovative Night video solutions in the form of a dedicated imaging NPU, MariSilicon X.

Based on a 6-nanometer process crafted for top-tier imaging performance, it delivers the most powerful AI computing power available.

The company said this results in a four times improvement in perceived night video resolution, less grain and superior colour reproduction.

It makes 4K Ultra Night Video possible for the first time on an Android smartphone, with the firm claiming each frame will be as clean as a still photo.

OPPO’s MariSilicon X is just one key element of Find X5 Pro’s advanced imaging system.

The wide-angle camera on the Find X5 Pro features a first-of-its-kind Five-axis OIS system, which improves with every use to counter handshake, reduce noise and sharpen scenes.

It also features an upgraded front camera, an intelligent 32MP shooter that captures details in brilliant clarity, boosting dynamic range and true-to-life textures to make selfies pop.

Pricing and availability

The full Find X5 series will be available from retailers in Irish market in the coming months.

OPPO Find X5 Pro will be available in Glaze Black priced at €1,299. OPPO Find X5 will be available in Black priced at €999. OPPO Find X5 Lite will be available in Starry Black priced at €499.
