A Batman stuntman pulled off a daring move by standing on top of the London Eye ahead of the latest movie hitting cinemas on Friday.
A man dressed as the fictional superhero stood atop of the world-famous tourist attraction to promote The Batman which had its premiere at Waterloo’s BFI Imax on Wednesday.
The movie will star Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader while Paul Dano, 37, stars as villain the Riddler.
Film director Matt Reeves, who attended last week’s screening, has said he feels people will relate to the chaos of Gotham City because of the pandemic.
The film, which was shot just outside of London, had been delayed because of Covid and had been due to be released in summer last year.
Speaking at the event, Mr Reeves said: “He’s really still becoming Batman, he’s a Batman who is in crisis, and the course of the movie is an awakening.
“And we’ve all been through a crazy awakening in the last couple years and so I really do hope that people will relate to it and I know they will connect to Rob because he’s just a wonderful actor.”
Also Andy Serkis, who plays Alfred Pennyworth, and Jeffrey Wright, who plays Gotham City’s police chief Commissioner Gordon, attended the star-studded premiere.
However Colin Farrell, who plays The Penguin, a supervillain, did not attend.
At the event, Zoe Kravitz, who plays Catwoman in the film, said the film was “eerily on point” in relating to the pandemic.
She said: “I think the theme of the film is eerily on point for the times that we’re living in right now, and I know it’s complicated time but I really, really, really hope that people are able to go see it in the cinemas because, you know, it’s such a high level of filmmaking, cinematography, the action, all of it.”
The film sees Bruce Wayne, played by Pattinson, on a journey for vengeance in the underworld where he encounters Catwoman, Carmine Falcone and The Riddler.
Pattinson is the latest actor to play the Dark Knight following in the footsteps of Christian Bale, Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton and George Clooney.
The Batman will be released in UK cinemas on March 4.
