A Bathgate mum whose video of her hilarious encounter with Hollywood icon Samuel L Jackson went viral says she’s been overwhelmed by the response.
Deborah Gemmell tracked down the star last week as he was filming his latest movie on Mid Street in Bathgate after a four-hour hunt.
Her 12-year-old son Casey is a big fan, thanks to Jackson’s role as Shield boss Nick Fury in various Marvel movies, so she set about tracking him down
She posted on Facebook that she had been “stalking” the star last Thursday and posted a video of him on Facebook on Mid Street, which has now been viewed over 100,000 times.
She shouts “Nick Fury” at him as she drives by and the star jokes: “This is the third time you’ve been by!”
Jackson was in West Lothian filming a new serial killer thriller, called Damaged, not a new Marvel production as had been reported.
Deborah said: “It has really kicked off which has been
great.
“Casey has been so excited and checking my Facebook every few hours to see how many views our video got.
“He was hyper when it reached 100k views.
“My son loves Marvel so I couldn’t not take him out to find him.
“We drove along Mid Street around 40 or 50 times looking for him and eventually seen him, although he must have spotted us first because he said that was three times we’d gone by.
“I was driving, my friend Mo was in the passenger seat taking pics and videos and my son was in the back.
“He was filming in the street. That’s why I kept driving up and down as all the film crew were out there and crowds of people.
“They were there from 5pm until 11pm doing a car scene.
“I did the same pre-covid with my son to see Lewis Capaldi and managed to get a photo with him and my son gave him a milkshake and a protein bar!” Hollywood star Jackson was first spotted at Almond Valley Heritage Centre in Livingston filming scenes at a nearby church, before the production team moved to the Tony Macaroni stadium.
Heritage Centre staff took to Facebook to say: “A string of big fancy trailers parked up in our field, providing base camp for cast and crew as they filmed at various local locations.
“It was (and is) all very top-secret and even if we knew more, we wouldn’t clype.
“Suffice to say, we’re preparing a commemorative plaque, proudly stating ‘somewhere near this bush, make-up was applied to Samuel L Jackson’.”
