Batgirl origin story teased as Glasgow cafe pull her favourite special off menu

Batgirl looks like she will have one tough job on her hands trying to bring down Gotham supervillain Firefly when the much anticipated HBO Max flick hits the screens after filming wraps in Glasgow.

Scenes that have been shot on the Glasgow streets so far have shown the pyromaniacal serial-arsonist - played by Brendan Fraser - setting fire to everything in his wake, torching cars, buildings and engaging in flame-tastic fisticuffs with firefighters brandishing axes on top of fire engines hurtling down Ingram Street.

Yet Batgirl might have unwittingly discovered an even bigger foe that's earned her wrath in the form of something altogether different - a cafe that's pulling an amazing special off their menu.

Dominican-American actress Leslie Grace, who is taking on the role of Barbara Gordon, seems to have found herself in the same boat as a lot of visitors to the city in succumbing to the delights of the scran and coffee served at hip west end spot Papercup.

So much so that, when Papercup announced that they were saying goodbye to last week's The Cornbread French Toast special, she took to Insta to lament the loss.

She posted a photo of the dish on her Insta story with the caption: "Papercup, add it to the menu please...this cannot be the end of the cornbread special. Still not over it."

Thankfully, it seems that Papercup staff might have dodged getting sent to join the rest of the wrong yins in the Rogues' Gallery, after posting news of the new special.

Yesterday they posted: "On special from 9am tomorrow. The Cornbread French Toast was a tough act to follow but we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to bring you exciting new dishes. Pancake stack with wasabi cream cheese, smoked salmon, pickled courgette, fried egg, rocket, crushed wasabi peas and some okonomi sauce to finish it off."

And that saw the 27-year-old singer-songwriter reply underneath with: "….wait… this might just make up for it."

Who knows, maybe this could be her 'teasing' Batgirl's origin story in the Glasgow-set movie, we'll have to wait and see.
