Tottenham supporters were full of praise for defender Ben Davies' performance for Wales against Ukraine on Sunday evening. The 29-year-old was a standout performer for his nation, who booked their place at the Qatar 2022 World Cup later this year.
West Ham forward Andriy Yarmolenko scored the only goal of the game, but at the wrong end as he headed into his own net from Gareth Bale's tempting delivery. The game, somehow, ended without another goal scored, with Davies playing a huge part in denying the visitors a way back to level terms.
It comes after an equally impressive end to the season for the Welshman in club football. Davies was a regular feature in Antonio Conte's side as a left-sided centre-back in a back three.

Discussing the defender's form for the campaign, the Italian said: "I think he [Davies] is having an amazing season. I think this position is perfect for him. It happened the same with Azpilicueta when I was at Chelsea, if you remember when we started to play at three at the back, he became one of the central defenders.
“Ben Davies is playing in a fantastic way like Dier and don’t forget Sanchez, he has played two amazing games for Romero.”
It may be something that makes Conte rethink his strategy for the summer when it comes to transfers. The Lilywhites have been linked with Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni as a potential option ahead of the window opening on Friday.
However, Davies continues to impress, capturing the imagination of fans and journalists alike on social media.
