Police investigating a hate crime in Barton Hill have said it is believed the incident is "not linked" to the fire at Ecclestone House last month. The incident saw a pig's head being left on public view near the tower block on Sunday (November 6).
The force have since been appealing for information, or relevant dashcam or doorbell footage from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
An image of the pig's head was shared by a local group, Barton Hill Activity Club, who reported that residents 'woke up' to the head and added that they were 'shocked' to see this kind of hate crime in 2022. In a statement today, Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and a mobile police station has been implemented close to Eccleston House where officers are holding daily talks.

The daily sessions also include the Neighbourhood Policing team who are there to support and listen to local residents. Chief Inspector Deepak Kenth of Avon and Somerset Police said in an update that officers are making progress with the investigation and have a number of active lines of enquiry.
CI Deepak said: “We’re continuing to make progress in our investigation and have a number of active lines of enquiry we’re pursuing, including an ongoing review of CCTV and other footage from around the area. At this stage we do not believe this incident is linked to a recent fire at Eccleston House, for which an investigation remains ongoing with arrests made.
“We’d like to thank local residents for their continuing support and we want them to know that we’re here to listen to their worries and concerns, as well as to follow up on information provided to us. A mobile police station (pictured above) is located close to Eccleston House and officers with the Neighbourhood Policing team are holding daily ‘talk to us’ sessions with local residents."
A tweet from Barton Hill Activity Club said on Sunday: "Barton Hill residents woke up 2 this yesterday morning, it's a very shocking to see this kind of hate crime and racism in 2022. The residents in Eccleston House keep calling me asking if this is related to the fire that happened last month?"
CI Deepak added: “If anyone has information, or relevant dashcam or doorbell footage, and hasn’t yet contacted police, please call us on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5222267142.”
