Aberdeen should wait until the end of the season to appoint a new manager if they make the top six says former keeper Theo Snelders.
The Dutchman believes interim manager Barry Robson has done a decent job since taking over from Jim Goodwin. The Irishman was sacked at the end of January following a 6-0 thumping by Hibernian at Easter Road, it came just days after the Dons were dumped out the Scottish Cup by West of Scotland side Darvel.
Since taking over Robson has taken charge of five games, wining three and losing two, and many fans after calling for him to be given the job on a permanent basis. Chris Wilder and Ricardo Rodriguez have been linked with the role, however new chief executive Alan Burrows has yet to make a decision. Wilder has now taken over at English Championship side Watford until the end of the season.
The Dons are currently in fifth place just two points behind Hibs in fourth and seven points behind Hearts who they play at Pittodrie on Saturday afternoon.
Snelders said Aberdeen could wait until the end of the season to save them money. He told the P&J: "I don’t know how Aberdeen are looking at it. However, with the way Barry (Robson) is going, it looks like they will make the top six. It looks like Aberdeen are doing okay at the moment and could get that top-six finish.
"If they do that then why get a new manager in for the post-split games? They should maybe wait until the end of the season to get a new manager. Maybe managers are becoming free at the end of the season and Aberdeen will not have to pay money for compensation."
