Barry Robson fumes at Grant Irvine as Aberdeen boss insists St Mirren dugout 'were surprised' by referee decision

Aberdeen interim boss Barry Robson claims that "everything fell into place" for St Mirren at Pittodrie as he vented on the performance of whistler Grant Irvine.

A double from Curtis Main and a header late on from Declan Gallagher consigned the Dons to a third-straight Scottish Premiership loss, having taken just four points from their previous NINE top-flight matches since the World Cup break, and of course, the infamous loss to Darvel. They weren't helped yesterday by a controversial decision to send Ross McCrorie off after just seven minutes for an elbow on Charles Dunne, which gave Robson a mountain to climb in his first game since Jim Goodwin was sacked at the weekend.

But it was other refereeing decisions that took centre stage with the interim boss. A handball given against Graeme Shinnie for the opener set the tone in terms of goals scored, and a controversial Gallagher goal in the last minute - with fans not sure the ball had fully crossed the line - had Robson admitting that even his opposite numbers were "surprised at the decisions".

He told RedTV: "Yes, of course you do. I can't comment on the officiating. I think everybody was here tonight will think St Mirren will be going home very happy, everything fell into place for them.

"I think when I looked over [at the St Mirren dugout] they were actually surprised at the decisions. That says it all for me - I can't comment. When things aren't going your way, decisions are going to go against you. These things happen.

"What do you do? Come out fighting, and that's what we are going to do."
