Police officers were yesterday seen scouring the pond at Durrockstock Park in Paisley as their search for Barry McCullagh continues.
The 40-year-old vanished from the Royal Alexandra Hospital on Wednesday, October 5.
Yesterday, Police Scotland confirmed specialist officers were searching the water of the Renfrewshire park – situated just minutes from the hospital on Corsebar Road.
But they emphasised they “did not have any information to suggest he entered the water”.
Tragically, the search occurred at the same time Barry’s brother Brian McCullagh was laid to rest.
His distraught family revealed two weeks ago how Brian – who had been in a coma for five months – had passed away.
Tomorrow marks four weeks since Barry’s disappearance.
Sergeant Will Thomson from Paisley police said: “It is totally out of character for him not to keep in contact with his family and friends and as time passes, we are becoming very concerned for his safety and wellbeing.
“Searches are continuing and officers are being assisted by specialist search advisors to trace him as soon as possible.”
Barry, who comes from the Castlemilk area of Glasgow, went missing days after he suffered a seizure and began hallucinating.
His concerned family called an ambulance and he was taken to the RAH on the Tuesday evening.
He left the hospital ward for a smoke at around 5.20pm the following day but failed to return.
Anyone with information on Barry’s whereabouts is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 3910 of October 5.
