Barry Keoghan has won the BAFTA award for Best Supporting Actor in the Banshees of Inisherin, and he gave a sweet shout out to the kids from his hometown in Dublin.
The Summerhill-native has gone from strength to strength of late with roles in big Hollywood films. The latest of which was Martin McDonagh's The Banshee's of Inisherin, for which he starred alongside Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson.
On Sunday night at the British Academy Film Awards, Barry was up against his co-star Brendan Gleeson for the best supporting actor award which he won. At the awards ceremony, Barry was sharp in a stylish red suit with a white shirt and red granddad collar as his name was read out on stage by Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page and actress and singer Ariana DeBose.

In his acceptance speech, the Summerhill native thanked his co-stars and Ireland. Barry said: "I've got a list here I've got to thank. I'm gonna fly through this because I'm quite nervous; Martin, Colin, Brendan, Kerry, the cast and crew, the producers and Fox Searchlight.
“Ireland, Brando, this is for my son as well, Brando. For my mother, and also for the kids that are dreaming to be something from the area where I came from. This is for you,” Barry added.
The Dublin star also shared a sweet photo of himself with his baby son Brando and co-star Colin Farrell just before the awards ceremony began. He captioned the post: "Uncle Col" with his son Brando held in Colin's arms for a cuddle.
It was a hugely successful night for the Banshees of Inisherin which scooped four awards at the annual awards ceremony in London including Best Original Screenplay and Best British Film. Two of the big winners on the night were Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon, who won Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress respectively.
The Summerhill native has also been nominated for an Oscar at the 95th Academy awards for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin, with the awards ceremony to take place on March 13 in Hollywood.
