Barry Ferguson suspects Celtic and Rangers long term ticket feud could spark dramatic Sky Sports demand

Barry Ferguson suspects if Celtic and Rangers do not return to the traditional derby ticket allocations they risk upsetting Sky Sports.

Away fans will return to the derby for the first time 2019 when the Glasgow rivals collide at Ibrox on April 3 - but only 700 Celtic supporters will be allowed in.

Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson earlier this year said a return to the 7000+ visiting crowd was not likely any time in the near future.

Ibrox legend Ferguson reckons it's passed time the clubs sorted it out and insisted the spectacle just isn't the same.

He appeared on the Go Radio Football Show and discussion turned to speculation that if the reduced allocations were to remain long-term, Scottish football broadcaster Sky could demand the old setup returned as part of any future deal, with the current arrangement expiring in 2025.

"Don't be surprised if something like that happens," Ferguson said.

"I still enjoy watching it, but for me, that's the thing that's missing just now.

"Get it back to the way it was with both sets of supporters, getting 7000 or 8000 in.

"Get back to the way it was, that was special."
