Barry Ferguson joined the chorus condemning the disgusting Lisbon Lions chant that polluted the air at Ibrox on Sunday.
The legendary Rangers midfielder was saddened to hear the song being sung by fans of his beloved club that hammered Celtic in the final derby of the season.
A section of the Rangers support were heard to chant "the Lisbon Lions won’t see 10 in a row" just weeks after two European Cup winners in Billy McNeill and Stevie Chalmers passed away.
And Ferguson joined the likes of Michael Stewart and Tam McManus in expressing outrage.
The Record Sport columnist told PLZ Soccer: "It's sad. I heard it yesterday when I was watching it. It sours what was a fantastic performance with Rangers.
"That's what I would rather be talking about, how good a performance it was and obviously Celtic being poor.
"It's a part of the game that's sadly crept in this season which I don't like. I can only say it's sad."
It was the latest sick song to be heard in Scottish football this season.
Steve Clarke hit out after being abused by Rangers fans, while Derek McInnes has suffered at the hands of Celtic fans and Steven Gerrard has also been the subject of sectarian chanting from Aberdeen and Hoops supporters.
