Barry Ferguson reckons Gio van Bronckhorst might not have to splash the cash on transfers this summer - since the Ibrox academy stars are ready to pick up some slack.
And he's named Alex Lowry and Leon King in particular as two who will save him "an absolute fortune."
Having booked their place in the Europa League final on Thursday night, Rangers looked to the future for their clash with Dundee United.
18-year-old King was given a first ever start while Lowry impressed off the bench, as did Charlie McCann and Adam Devine at left and right-back respectively.
Van Bronckhorst's team cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win with James Tavernier scoring from the spot while Amad Diallo also came off the bench to score.
It wasn't enough to keep their title hopes alive as Celtic's earlier win against Hearts mean their lead is insurmountable.
Rangers have plenty to look forward to in the short-term regardless with the Europa League and Scottish Cup finals to come.
It's the future beyond that which has Ferguson excited though as the Ibrox legend reckons Lowry and King are on the brink of becoming established first-team stars.
He said on Go Radio: "It's exciting times for Rangers fans. When you look at these young boys who played yesterday, Leon King starting the game, the future is bright.
"Even at that age I can see those two being a big part next season. King and Lowry could save you an absolute fortune.
"It's about managing them. You can't expect too much but I think Gio came through a brilliant system at Feyenoord. He knows how to handle them.
"They've got the right manager and if they show the right attitude - they've certainly got the potential and the ability - they will get the opportunity to play.
