Barry Ferguson admits he has done his own research in to the likes of Morgan Whittaker and Nicolas Raskin.
The former Ibrox captain seems keen to get a sense of how the Swansea City forward and Belgian midfielder would fare in Glasgow after Michael Beale set tongues wagging this week over new recruits. Rangers have reportedly been close to sealing a deal for Norwich City forgotten man Todd Cantwell while Whittaker and Raskin have emerged again as potential incomings.
And while Beale is yet to bring in or send out any bodies, Ferguson insists new arrivals must be right for the club but expects swift business to be done sooner rather than later.

He told Go Radio: "I would think after St Johnstone on Saturday to expect one or two faces through the door.
"Rangers fans are desperate to see what type of player Michael Beale is going to bring in. If its the guys we are talking about - Cantwell, Whittaker and Raskin. I've done a bit of research on them and I think they are guys who will improve Rangers."
Beale said earlier: "Another good player [Raskin] one that I remember from the time we played Standard Liege. He missed the first game the night Kemar Roofe scored that amazing goal but he played the second leg.
"He’s a player I’m aware of, a very good player who is out of contract in the summer. One that has attracted a lot of attention. There’s an interest from us but I’m sure there is from a number of clubs."
On Whittaker, he added: "There’s no stand-off. We’re doing the business in private but in Wales they’ve spoken out about it so we’re not going to add to that. He’s come back from loan and could be in their squad this weekend. He’s their player."
