Barry Ferguson believes Michael Beale is one more "difficult result" away from losing his job at Rangers.
The former Ibrox captain believes talk of change in the managerial hot seat at his old club is too early for now.
But the pundit insists if Beale suffers another bitterly disappointing defeat in the near future, then it could be curtains for the Londoner.
Beale joined from QPR last November and has spent nearly a year in the job.
He's come under some intense scrutiny from the Gers faithful in recent weeks after defeats to Kilmarnock, PSV, and arch-rivals Celtic. His team is four points behind the Hoops in the Premiership title race and has already dropped into the Europa League rather than the Champions League for the campaign ahead.
The club has backed him in the transfer market by allowing him to spend £13million in overhauling the first team squad at Ibrox.
But Jack Butland aside, the rest of the new signings have yet to convince despite some hefty price tags.
Speaking on Go Radio's Football Show, Ferguson admits Beale could be treading on very thin ice with another poor result.
He said: "I don't think there's going to be a change until there's another difficult result.
"People were shouting for his head on Sunday and a lot of that is anger. And I totally get that, I was angry and frustrated by the result on Sunday.
"But I don't think there's anything going to happen just now, I think they're going to let the dust settle a bit. Obviously, there are two weeks up until the game at McDiarmid Park (against St Johnstone) and they really need to come out and show the fans what they're made of.
"And I'm not just talking St Johnstone, I'm talking the Real Betis game, the Motherwell game, the Livingston game after the Motherwell game. They need to come out fighting and showing how much they want it.
"But in terms of the manager, I don't think it will change until obviously there's another difficult result again. I think he needs to have a near-perfect record up until the (Viaplay) Cup Final - I'm saying the cup final but they need to get to the cup final first."
