Barry Ferguson 'good sign' Rangers transfer response after links with Todd Cantwell and Tom Davies

Barry Ferguson has responded to speculation linking Rangers with Todd Cantewell and Tom Davies as he branded the potential arrives 'a good sign for me'.

Michael Beale has made a solid start to life at Rangers with five wins and one draw from his six games as he now bids to add a couple of his own recruits to the current squad. He spoke last week about adding two or three faces with the Norwich City and Everton duo two of the names that have surfaced in recent days.

Rangers legend Ferguson is liking what he is hearing from the new Ibrox boss and is in no doubt they would improve the Light Blues if both arrived in Glasgow. Speaking on Go Radio, he said: "I like his soundbites and he’s saying the right things. If these two players are who he is chasing that’s a good sign for me. They’d improve Rangers."

Celtic have already made three signings in this window with the arrivals of Alistair Johnston, Yuki Kobayashi and Tomoki Iwata. The trio had put pen to paper before the January activity began with Rangers yet to make any moves in the market.

Ferguson says the Light Blues should NOT worry what is happening across the city and focus on themselves.

Speaking on Sunday, Beale said: "We don’t spend the most money in this country. Celtic have made three signings and people are asking: ‘Are you going to make three’? No, we will do what we think (is best). But also, they spend a lot more money than us. So Ange is a lucky man because he’s spent a lot of money. He’s a good coach - but he’s spent a lot of money."

Ferguson responded: "I’m a big believer in worry about No 1. Worry about yourself.

"If Celtic want to spend money that’s up to them, if they want to spend £5m, £6m, £7m, let them do it. Michael Beale needs to concern himself on who he brings in."
