Barrie McKay was extended Hearts stay after stellar first season in maroon

Barrie McKay admits he's open to extending his stay at Hearts after a stellar first season in maroon.

The wide man penned a two-year deal after signing a free agent last September, and has led the way in assists for the Jambos.

Only James Tavernier has more in the league this season.

McKay netted his first goal with a stunning volley against Livingston in the Jam Tarts' 2-0 Premiership win before the international break.

Robbie Neilson has touted McKay for a Scotland call-up after his form so far this campaign.

HIs only previous appearance for his country came as a Rangers player back in 2016.

Now he wants to keep improving at Hearts with the 27-year-old loving life back in Scotland and admits it's the first time in years he's not found football to be a chore.

He told the Sunday Mail: "I’m happy where I am.

“I’m not one of these people who thinks about leaving somewhere. I’m enjoying my football.

"It’s the first time in a long time I’ve been able to say it’s not a chore.

"We’ve been on such a high this season and it’s exciting to see how we can finish the campaign. I’d be open to staying longer at Hearts."
