An angry crowd surrounded a house in Barrhead demanding the resident be removed.
Police were called to the scene on Fenwick Drive at 3.40pm on Monday amid reports of a protest.
Video footage showed people shouting abuse and jeering as they surround the property before police arrive in force, the Daily Record reports.

Around eight officers arrived at the scene and forced the crowd back before escorting the occupant into a waiting police van.
No arrests were made and it is believed the man, who requested assistance from officers to leave the address, has now left the area.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At around 3.40 pm on Monday, July 11, police responded to a report of a protest outside an address in Fenwick Drive, Barrhead.
"Advice and assistance was provided to those in attendance and the protesters dispersed. No arrests have been made."
