Barometer! Paul Mescal is hot (for now), Ikea on Oxford Street is weird

Going up!

Paul Mescal’s biceps

(Aidan Monaghan)

Let’s all agree to enjoy Mescal this week. Gladiator II! Woo! Then, why not collectively pop him away for a bit? Too much of anything makes you sick.

Fingerless gloves

(Uniqlo)

Make like grandpa, all. Anya Hindmarch has made a weird pair, with eyes, for Uniqlo — but you can’t beat the puddle-brown wool ones. Authenticity.

The Greek End

(Selene)

Three Sophocles plays are landing in London. Try Lesley Manville and Mark Strong in Oedipus tonight and go to Selene, the new Ancient Greece-themed club in the West End, after.

Status tuna

(Los Mochis)

Tokyo’s tuna wars have arrived: Los Mochis and Tuna Fight Club both now host whole tuna carving ceremonies, while OWO have started a new tuna cart service at Kioku. Itsu won’t do.

Going down…

“It’s been a week”

Donald Trump (PA Archive)

Election results and anticyclonic gloom do sour moods, but this damp towel conversation only makes matters worse.

Faux creative directors

(Rowben Lantion)

Congratulations to rapper A$AP Rocky, the first ever creative director for Ray-Ban. I’m sure the Milan team are looking forward to hearing the new direction at Monday’s 9am. Not.

Taramasalata

(ES)

I’m sorry, no amount of PR spin is going to make dollops of warm, pink fish paste “come back” for Christmas.

Ikea

(Getty Images)

Am I the only one who thinks an Ikea on Oxford Street is unnecessary? Now they are hosting a warm-up “Hus of Frakta” party, which sees their blue bags “styled in the tradition of haute couture fashion houses”. Case closed.
