Barnsley v Cardiff City chaos erupts after final whistle as Steve Morison and players embroiled in tunnel melee

Cardiff City's match with Barnsley descended into chaos after the final whistle as both players and coaching staff were caught in a melee down the tunnel.

Uche Ikpeazu scored on debut to earn a precious win for the Bluebirds, their second on the bounce following the win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday, and it was clear to see what it meant by the vociferous celebrations at the end of the match.

Bluebirds boss Steve Morison produced an impassioned fist-pump in front of the travelling supporters in south Yorkshire, right near the corner flag where the tunnel back to the changing room begins.

Tykes assistant coach Joseph Laumann was immediately behind Morison, who attempted to usher him down the tunnel. But the Barnsley man took umbrage with Morison and, by the look of videos which have emerged from the away end after the match, appeared to nudge him out of the way.

Minutes before, Laumann was seen squaring up to Bluebirds assistant boss Mark Hudson on the touchline following the final whistle.

The flashpoint in the tunnel sparked a reaction en masse from the Cardiff players, who made a beeline for the tunnel, sprinting to the manager's aid should anything escalate.
