A teenager is in hospital after being stabbed in the chest outside a flat block in broad daylight.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene in Harts Lane, Barking, at around 3pm on Friday.
The 17-year-old male victim was treated at the scene for stab wounds to his shoulder and chest, and was taken to an east London hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
A crime scene remains in place outside the flats while police carry out inquiries, including the recovery of CCTV.
Police believe that following the stabbing, three male suspects left the scene in a blue Hyundai. All wore dark clothing.
Officers are keeping an open mind about the motive behind the attack.
Detective Sergeant Dave Parish, East Area Command said: “My officers are working hard to identify those responsible for this attack which took place in broad daylight and could easily have proved fatal.
“Thankfully the victim is recovering in hospital and as we continue to establish the full circumstances I would appeal to anyone with information which could assist the investigation to come forward.”
