Barisic and Lundstram explain Trabzonspor transfer decision after Rangers exit

John Lundstram has revealed two Rangers team-mates helped him make the transfer switch to Trabzonspor.

The former Ibrox midfielder has agreed a move to Turkey after being released by Rangers at the end of the season.

And he has thanked Borna Barisic - who will join him at Trabzonspor - and Ridvan Yilmaz for aiding in his decision to join the Super Lig club.

Barisic and Lundstram will remain team-mates next season having both agreed contracts with Trabzonspor.

And Lundstram has explained it was Barisic who first informed him of interest from the Turkish club.

He told Fotomac: "I am really happy, thank you so much for the warm welcome, I am really happy. I can't wait to get started.

"I've got Borna to thank! When he got the call about Trabzonspor he also said to me that the manager really likes me and the club would like to sign me. I said 'let's go'."

Lundstram also consulted with Ridvan over the lifestyle in Turkey ahead of agreeing to the transfer switch. He added: "I am very good friends with Ridvan Yilmaz so I spoke a lot about Turkey even before the interest from Trabzonspor, I wanted to know the culture, Besiktas, what the fans were like because I heard so much about Turkish fans because you guys are quite crazy - and I like this.

"When I heard about Trabzonspor and I asked Ridvan he said, 'You will love the place'."

Barisic said of his decision to move: "I am incredibly happy. We did not expect such a warm welcome. We are very excited to be here. The transfer process was very easy. We made a deal in two or three days. It was from both sides a big will and wish that I come here.

"When I received a phone call from Trabzonspor, I signed up here. I said I wanted to wear it, and the process went well. My jersey number is not yet clear."
