During a news briefing on Friday evening, National Transportation Safety Board Member Todd Inman announced that barges are being dispatched to assist with salvage operations in the aftermath of a tragic collision. The barges are expected to arrive from Virginia Beach on Saturday morning.
Inman revealed that there are two distinct debris fields resulting from the crash. However, he provided reassurance by stating that based on initial mapping, a significant portion of the debris field consists of large, easily recoverable chunks.
To further enhance the salvage efforts, a Black Hawk certified pilot has been brought in to support the operation.
