Bargain Scottish hostel on North Coast 500 for sale in 'exciting' opportunity

A recently converted hostel along Scotland's iconic North Coast 500 has recently gone on the market and it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase a truly unique property.

Stoer Hostel is a seven-bedroom hostel situated in a fabulous setting near Lochinver in Sutherland, with unspoilt views out towards Loch Neill Bhain. It is currently available to purchase for offers over £275,000.

According to agents Galbraith, the property presents an "exciting opportunity to live and work in one of the last great wildernesses of Europe". It is found in the Assynt region on the west coast, nestled among dramatic mountain peaks like Suilven and Quinag.

The hostel was formerly a Free Presbyterian Church and dates back to 1899, reports the Scottish Daily Express. It has since been converted into modern, energy-efficient accommodation that can fit up to 22 guests, and includes a self-contained studio flat that could be used as a separate manager's home.

Phiddy Robertson of Galbraith, who is handling the sale, commented: "This is a rare opportunity to live the dream lifestyle, in one of Scotland's most stunning rural areas. The surrounding area is renowned for its spectacular mountains, coastline and sea lochs and the creation of the North Coast 500 route has significantly boosted tourism to the area.

"The hostel is being sold fully equipped and thus the purchasers will be able to start welcoming guests soon after purchase. Anyone who has toyed with the idea of creating a tourism business in Scotland would be well advised to view the property and its extraordinary setting."

The accommodation at Stoer Hostel is split over two floors. It consists of an open-plan kitchen and living area with fitted units and trestle tables, six bunkrooms, boot room, utility room, drying room, office, three shower rooms, three WCs, and a further accessible shower room.

Meanwhile, the self-contained studio flat includes a kitchenette, a bedroom, and a shower room. Outside, there is a Plant Shed containing a hot water tank and an air source heat pump.

The highlight of the gorgeous property is undoubtedly its one-of-a-kind location, however. The North Coast 500 is a popular tourist route and has been voted one of the most beautiful road trips in the world.

The village of Lochinver is eight miles away and is a thriving port, with fishing vessels from many parts of the world landing their catches at the fish market. It includes two small supermarkets, a general store, petrol station, health centre, community and leisure centre, and primary school, as well as a number of other shops, cafés, and restaurants.

Meanwhile, Ullapool, which is around a 50-minute drive away, includes a wider range of amenities such as a secondary school.
