Bargain retailer selling 'debranded' oversized hoodie blankets that 'look like Oodie' for under £15

Oversized hoodie blankets are the must-have accessory for staying cosy and warm amid the cost of living crisis over the winter months. But some of them don’t come cheap.

Oodie and Kudd.ly - some of the top rated brands - cost around £89 on average. However, bargain hunting shoppers have found some very similar wearable blankets for less than £15.

What’s more is that some of them are thought to be big-name brands that have been ‘debranded’ on a site called 5poundstuff. And it’s all above board, too.

Shoppers highlighted the deal on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook group, with one pointing out the similarities between some of the 5poundstuff designs compared to Oodie, such as avocado and koala patterns.

The cut-price blanket hoodies are priced at £14.49, which is £74.51 cheaper than buying a full-priced Oodie from their website direct. These designs very quickly sold out overnight, but there are still dozens of oversized blankets available to shop on their website that may have come from a larger brand.

Commenting on the Facebook post, some shoppers told of how they believe they received Oodie products when shopping on the little-known retailer. One said: “I've had a few from here. I've got an Oodie, a couple of Kuddly ones that were presents and one from the shopping channel. It's just taking a chance really on what you get.”

Another said: “I ordered Winnie the Pooh and Star Wars the other week and looked like Oodies with the tags cut off.” While a third added: “I've bought an Otter one before Christmas and it was in the Oodie bag.”

And 5poundstuff have confirmed that their products can sometimes come from larger brands - but they aren’t allowed to advertise that fact.

Their disclaimer explains: “We purchase most of our stock in bulk which is mostly clearance or end of lines from larger brands. For legal reasons we are not able to advertise or mention any branding for anything we sell.

“We normally remove or blank out the original brand name before we ship to the customer. We cannot guarantee of any branding you will receive, on our website everything we sell is as seen basis but whatever we sell is surely a great value for money.”

As well as shoppers potentially getting a mega deal, it’s also a more sustainable way to shop, as it helps prevent surplus stock going into landfill.

In the product description, it further explains that ‘all tags and branding have been removed from this garment’.

It reads: “It keeps you warm and cosy while lounging at home, having morning coffee outside, or at a sporting event, you can wear it for any camping or outdoor activities without having to take it off.

“Super soft Sherpa blanket sweatshirt with a huge pocket, which is able to store phones, snacks, remote controllers, and so on.”

You can shop the 5poundstuff oversized hoodie blankets on their website, with adult and children options available.
