Another bank branch will soon close due to a lack of 'regular' customers in a Nottingham suburb. The multinational bank has decided to close its West Bridgford branch in Tudor Square on Thursday, June 15.
A Barclays representative explained to customers that use of the bank had fallen drastically since people started banking online. They highlighted that less than ten customers used the branch "regularly" as the only way to do their banking.
Barclays further justified the closure by stating 92 percent of the branch's customers have also banked using its app, online and by phone in 2021 and that a third of the branch’s customers had used nearby branches in the last year. In a document informing Barclays customers of the closure, a spokesperson said: "Back when we opened this branch, visiting us in person was one of the only ways to do your banking.

"Now, as there are lots of ways to manage your money without even leaving your home, we’re seeing many customers choosing to bank using our app, and Online or Telephone Banking. This has had a big impact on the number of customers coming in to see us.
"When deciding whether to close this branch, we looked carefully at how it’s been used and how customers are banking in other ways."
Barclays said customers affected by the closure could use online banking, the Barclays app, telephone banking, and cash machines to replace the services lost. Those with a personal or business account with Barclays can also use their local Post Office to do their banking.
The National Federation of SubPostmasters has outlined that Melton Road Post Office, Trent Boulevard Post Office and West Bridgford Post Office on Bridgford Road were the closest to the branch. Each of these branches offers banking services - including deposits, free cash withdrawals and balance checks, face-to-face access to government services, bill payment, foreign currency, travel insurance and postal services.
