People who have accounts with 10 major banks are experiencing issues with online payments this morning. The problem appears to be affecting banks including Barclays, Lloyds, Nationwide, Santander and Monzo.
Thousands of customers are reporting problems via the DownDetector website, which monitors online outages. The banks affected are Barclays, Bank of Scotland, Halifax, Lloyds, HSBC , Santander, Nationwide, NatWest, Monzo and Yorkshire Bank.
Bank customers report problems with transferring funds, online banking and mobile banking apps. Some households have been unable to buy food or pay bills as a result of the outage. Bank users started logging issues at around 6am today, reports the Mirror.
On Twitter, Santander said: "We’re currently experiencing issues with making and receiving Faster Payments. We're very sorry for the inconvenience this is causing and we’re working hard to fix the problem."
One Barclays customer said on social media: "I transferred money to my husband's Barclays account to pay bills and I also paid my credit card bill but neither is showing on my account."
A NatWest customer said: "Are there issues with the app? Transferred money at 7am for food shopping, and it still hasn't arrived in my account."
