Barcelona boss Xavi is reportedly willing to allow Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong to leave this summer so he can bring in Manchester City maestro Bernardo Silva.
The Nou Camp boss was initially adamant on keeping the Netherlands midfielder but is now seemingly ready to allow him to be sold by the club amid their desperate financial situation. Barcelona are thought to be in around €1bn’s (£850m) worth of debt and need to offload players to manoeuvre within La Liga finance rules.
Xavi wishes to recruit Silva and in order to do so will have to allow a big-money transfer for one of his current players. De Jong was said to be unsure by a switch to United given the lack of Champions League football.

But having conceded that his club might have to show him the door, the Dutchman is now open to a reunion with former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, the Mirror reports. It also states that Xavi may make a move for Silva should De Jong's exit be confirmed.
Meanwhile, La Razon says United are ready to meet Pau Torres’ €50m (£42.5m) asking price. It seems Villarreal have remained unmoved in their negotiations but Ten Hag is eager to get personnel in with Phil Jones and Eric Bailly both expected to leave.
Torres rejected a Tottenham move last summer with his club in the Champions League, ultimately guiding them to the semi-finals. But with Villarreal finishing seventh in La Liga this season, he is now ready for a move away.
