Barcelona president confident club will seal Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang deadline day move

Barcelona president Joan Laporta believes the club will still sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on deadline day, despite talks appearing to break down.

The Arsenal striker looked set to join the La Liga club on loan until the end of the season, and was in Spain earlier today as he sought to complete the move.

Reports suggest that deal is currently off though, due to no agreement being reached over Aubameyang’s salary as it would required the 32-year-old to take a big pay-cut.

However, Laporta believes Barcelona are still in a position to finalise the deal in the coming hours.

““It seems that we will do it.” Laporta told Mundo Deportivo.

He added to Spanish reporters: “We’ve still options open.

“We’re working on it - and we will until the last minute.”

Aubameyang’s last appearance came at the beginning of December, off the bench against Everton, and he has since been out of the first-team picture after a falling out for Mikel Arteta.

Barcelona are also still looking to find a buyer for Ousmane Dembele in the final hours of the window, after the Frenchman rejected a contract extension at the Nou Camp.
