Barcelona could once more spoil Chelsea's transfer plans as the deadline for the January window gets ever closer. Despite signing seven players this month alone for nearing £200m, the Blues are still embroiled in dealings to get Enzo Fernandez to the club to top it all off.
The Argentine superstar appeared close to a move earlier this month but talks collapsed and football.london understands negotiations have re-opened since. With Fernandez keen on a move and Chelsea certainly determined to get their new number one midfield priority there is excitement over a late window major move.
Not everything has been straightforward this month though. Moises Caicedo was a target but the £75m Brighton have put valued him at appears to be too much. Other deals have gone through swiftly and quickly as Todd Boehly asserts his authority on the football landscape once more.

One of the coups of the window may not even have fully transpired either. Joao Felix has played less than an hour of football since his loan started due to a red card on his debut. What Felix showed in that period was enough to convince many that he was up to the required standards.
The issue Chelsea face in part is that Felix's loan ends at the end of the season with no option or obligation to buy. It could result in a slight free-for-all for his signature. Atletico Madrid extended his contract to secure their position some more and with talk of Diego Simeoene leaving it could mean Felix remains in Spain.
Should his loan in London be successful this would be a huge blow for Chelsea. They run the risk of paying £11m out in loan fees plus wages and then being unable to sign him in the summer. His services have remained on the radar for many top teams - Arsenal and Manchester United were among those interested in signing him this window too - including Barcelona.
The Blues have had a fierce relationship with the Catalan giants off the pitch in recent years and may see their chances with Felix take a significant hit should Xavi's men push for a deal to sign Felix. Sport report that the two Spanish sides have spoken over more potential transfers after Memphis Depay moved to Atletico earlier this month. Their work on Antoine Griezmann has created a good working relationship that could extend to Felix.
His name has been mentioned by Barcelona who haven't been detracted from his poor output since a £111m move from Benfica in 2019 and would love to take advantage of his uncertain future once the season is up. Felix himself appears to have taken to life in London well but it still remains to be seen how that plays out on the pitch and at what cost a potential move further down the line will come.
