Barcelona have not given up their pursuit of Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva and will return for the Portuguese international next summer, according to reports.
The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Camp Nou in the summer transfer window, but Pep Guardiola was keen to keep hold of Bernardo as City demanded a transfer fee of around €100 million for the playmaker.
However, according to Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona will look to sign the former Monaco man in 2023 – with Xavi viewing the midfielder as the 'missing piece of the puzzle'.

Bernardo has made 259 appearances for City since arriving from Ligue 1, registering 50 goals and 53 assists for the reigning Premier League champions.
Elsewhere, Billy Gilmour has been tipped to one day play for Man City by former Chelsea forward Pat Nevin. The Scotland international left Chelsea after five years on deadline day and made the move to Brighton and Hove Albion.
The 21-year-old was not given a shirt number by former Blues manager Thomas Tuchel and was later made to train with the club's reserve squad during the pre-season tour of the United States.
However, Nevin has still tipped Gilmour to play for either City or Liverpool 'in a few years', telling Grosvenor Sport: "I wouldn't be surprised if Billy Gilmour ends up playing for Liverpool or Man City in a few years
"Billy Gilmour is at a crucial point in his career, and the move to Brighton is brilliant. It's the right move. Chelsea won't regret selling him because that's not the way they think as a club - but they may want to buy him back again.
"Four or five years down the line, I won't be surprised if he's playing in the Manchester City, Liverpool or Chelsea midfield - he's that technically good."
