Barcelona have finally registered Robert Lewandowski, Franck Kessie, Raphinha and Andreas Christensen... but not Jules Kounde.
As per La Liga rules, the Spanish giants needed to either free up their wage bill or generate more revenue to register their five summer signings. Xavi's side, who finished second in La Liga last term, start their campaign at home to Rayo Vallecano on Saturday night.
Barcelona's president Joan Laporta has been attempting to resolve the situation for weeks, with many expecting them to make sales. Frenkie de Jong, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay were among those linked with the exit at the Camp Nou.
Yet none of them have left the club - so far, at least - as Laporta has found a solution to the crisis. Barcelona have been able to register their new signings after selling 24.5 per cent of Barca Studios to Orpehus Media, raising a much-needed £85million.
Barca Studios is company that produces audio-visual content for the club's in-house TV channel, social media and streaming platform. It is currently unprofitable, with NFT platform Socios.com purchasing the same amount of shares for the same fee in July.
Barcelona have also registered Ousmane Dembele and Sergi Roberto after they signed new contracts earlier this summer. That means the La Liga side have now registered 23 players for the new season, with more to follow before the transfer deadline on September 1.
How will Barcelona get on this season? Let us know in the comments below!
Including the aforementioned, Barcelona have registered Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Sergino Dest, Gerard Pique, Ronald Araujo, Jordi Alba, Eric Garcia, Samuel Umtiti, Sergio Busquets, Pedri, Miralem Pjanic, De Jong, Nico Gonzalez, Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati, Depay, Aubameyang and Martin Braithwaite.
Homegrown youngsters, such as Gavi, do not need to be registered. Barcelona will be hoping to get some of these players to either take a wage cut or leave the club in the coming days as they still need to register Kounde and other potential signings.
It's believed Barcelona are keen to complete deals for Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva and Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso. While the latter is expected to leave Stamford Bridge, Pep Guardiola doesn't want to loose Silva this summer.
"In the end, sometimes the club, sometimes the player, sometimes the agent, many reasons, sometimes you have to divide our path," admitted Guardiola earlier this month.
"I've said many times the desire of the player is the most important thing; I want people happy here trying to do it together. Of course, I would love for Bernardo to continue here, he is a special player in the dressing room for me, but I don't know what is going to happen. Honestly, I don't know.
"What is going to happen will happen and if he stays it's perfect, and if he has to leave it's because football is like this, the clubs have an agreement, the player has desires, and I am not the person to stop the desire of people... I want Bernardo to stay, definitely."
