Barcelona Faces Player Shortage For US Tour Due To Injuries

Frenkie de Jong celebrating

Barcelona will face significant challenges as they embark on their tour of the United States, with 10 key players unavailable due to injuries and international commitments. The team's preparations for the upcoming season have been disrupted by the absence of several key players.

Ronald Araújo, Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, and Ansu Fati are among the players who will miss the tour due to injuries. Additionally, Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres are still on holiday following Spain's victory in the European Championship, while Pau Cubarsí, Fermín López, and Eric García are representing Spain at the Olympic Games in France.

Despite the challenges, Barcelona will face Manchester City, Real Madrid, and AC Milan during their tour of the United States. With many key players unavailable, new coach Hansi Flick will have to rely on fringe players and youngsters to fill the gaps in the squad.

Oriol Romeu and Clément Lenglet, who are expected to leave the club this summer, have still traveled with the team. Young talents like Vitor Roque, Noah Darvich, Guille Fernández, and Toni Fernández will also have the opportunity to showcase their skills during the tour.

Barcelona's LaLiga campaign kicks off on August 17 with a match against Valencia. The team will be without Araújo until the end of the year following surgery on a hamstring injury, while Gavi is not expected to return before October due to an ACL tear last year. De Jong, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury since April, is expected to return soon, while Ansu and Pedri are set to make their comebacks in the coming weeks from foot and knee problems, respectively.
