Barcelona eye another £337m cash windfall as Xavi plots 4 more transfers after Raphinha

Barcelona are reportedly set to receive another huge financial windfall this summer as they attempt to alleviate their financial woes at the Camp Nou.

The Catalan giants have been struggling for cash over the past year with the Covid-19 pandemic having hit them hard. Barca were forced to wave goodbye to iconic forward Lionel Messi last summer - with the Argentine penning a deal with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Their transfer dealings have also taken a huge hit with the club forced to recruit free agents - Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie having arrived from Chelsea and AC Milan respectively.

There has already been an attempt to ease the financial pressure with president Joan Laporta having already sold 10% of their LaLiga TV rights to global investment firm Sixth Street. The Spanish side received a total capital gain of €267m (£229m) from the initial deal and appear set to repeat the trick.

As per Spanish outlet Sport, they intend to sell the remaining 15% of the TV rights to the same investment group. It is suggested that the club could receive a maximum of €330m (£278m), with a total capital gain of €400m (£337m). That would take the total amount received by the club this season alone to an eye-watering £566m.

Whilst that would in no way eliminate the total reported debt of €1.3billion (£1.09billion), it would assist the club in furthering their summer business as boss Xavi attempts to add more bodies to his squad.

The Catalan giants are on the verge of beating Chelsea to the services of Leeds United star Raphinha - the Brazilian is set to join for an initial fee of £49m. The business is not expected to end there though.

Chelsea duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are being eyed ahead of a potential double swoop. Blues transfer target Jules Kounde has also been linked with a switch to the Camp Nou with Chelsea in the meantime focusing on a deal to sign Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly.

Whilst Barcelona are determined to strengthen their backline, their attack is also set for even more investment even after the arrival of Raphinha. The Spanish giants have courted the services of Robert Lewandowski throughout the summer window following his request to leave Bayern Munich.

A deal for the striker could well be completed soon with reports from Abend Zeitung suggesting that Barca ‘expect’ to seal his signature potentially this week in a £42m deal.

Away from incomings and the Catalans could also find themselves in a far stronger position to retain their star players. Midfielder Frenkie de Jong has long been linked with a move to Man Utd. However, with Barcelona’s financial woes easing, they are now in a far better situation to potentially keep him from moving to Old Trafford.
