Barcelona draw up transfer proposal for Kylian Mbappe after Spotify financial boost

Barcelona have drawn up their own proposal to prise Kylian Mbappe away from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer after receiving a significant financial boost from Spotify.

The France international is getting closer to leaving PSG for nothing at the end of the season when his contract expires. Real Madrid have been widely touted as his next destination.

Los Blancos tried to sign Mbappe last year while the striker has admitted that he dreams of playing at the Santiago Bernabeu. Bids were made for the World Cup winner totalling up to £145million only for PSG to turn them down.

It has led to a situation where the 23-year-old is now on the verge of leaving the Parc des Princes for nothing this summer. But it appears Barcelona have steamed in to try and snap Mbappe up under Real's noses.

According to L'Equipe, Barcelona have made a move for Mbappe and feel that a deal will be cheaper to achieve than that of Erling Haaland - who is also in their sights. The Borussia Dortmund striker has a release clause of around £65m but the total outlay of his transfer could top £300m including wages and agent fees.

Barca were struggling to spend money last year and even had to let Lionel Messi go to alleviate costs. However, the Blaugrana have recently been bolstered financially by a £58m-a-year deal with Spotify, as well as a £500m loan from Goldman Sachs.

It has given club president Joan Laporta confidence that the club can produce a proposal that Mbappe will be keen to listen to. And L'Equipe further report that the striker has not closed the door on a move to the Nou Camp.

Real Madrid remain in pole position to sign the former Monaco man for nothing this summer but Mbappe wants to hear out Xavi's sporting project - which is ultimately what will sway his mind.

The fact that he is entertaining a conversation from Barcelona has indicated that he is yet to make his mind up over a transfer, which could infuriate Real fans. Madridistas have long believed that a transfer announcement will be a mere procession having been linked with the forward for so long.

Staying at PSG has not been ruled out, either, after reports emerged last month that Mbappe had been frustrated by the lack of progress made by Madrid to make a move for him. If the youngsters does go, then the French giants could look to replace him with Mohamed Salah as his contract issues at Liverpool have opened him up to a potential summer exit.
