Barcelona 'convince' Ilkay Gundogan with contract offer and more Man City transfer gossip

Ilkay Gundogan will reportedly put pen to paper on a three-year contract on Barcelona when he leaves Manchester City this summer.

The City captain is poised to become a free agent as things stand when his deal at the Etihad Stadium expires. The 32-year-old joined City in 2016 from Borussia Dortmund.

In that time, the German international has played more than 300 times for Pep Guardiola's side and scored 58 goals. He has five Premier League winners medals, as well as four League Cups and the FA Cup to his name.

Gundogan could win the Treble with City this season after the Premier League title was secured. City have finals in the FA Cup and Champions League against Manchester United and Inter Milan respectively.

Speculation surrounds Gundogan's future at City with his deal at the club poised to run out at the end of this month. He has been strongly linked with a switch to La Liga champions Barcelona.

And Spanish publication Sport now reports that Xavi's side has 'convinced' Gundogan to head to the Camp Nou after the offer of a three-year contract there. It is reported he will be on a lower salary than he was at City, but with the security of a deal which will take him beyond the age of 35, with the player to announce his future after the Champions League final in Istanbul.

Elsewhere, German outlet Abendzeitung reports that defender Joao Cancelo, who has been on loan at Bayern Munich for the second half of the season, is not interested in a summer move to Arsenal. Cancelo's time at City could well come to an end this summer after falling out of favour, but a switch to North London appears to not appeal to him.

bet365 odds on IIkay Gundogan's club next season: Man City 4/7, Barcelona 5/4, Arsenal 10/1, Bayern Munich 20/1
