Barbie London premiere sees stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling take to the pink carpet

Barbie stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling were among the Hollywood names taking to the pink carpet in Leicester Square for the film's European premiere. Fans queued from early on Wednesday morning (July 12) for a chance to see the movie's stars.

They were joined by co-stars including Dua Lipa, Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Ncuti Gatwa, Nicola Coughlan, Issa Rae and Hari Nef. Other celebrities spotted at the event included Sharon Rooney, Amanda Holden, Molly-Mae Hague, Georgia Toffolo and Sam Smith.

Robbie - who plays the title character - mirrored the Enchanted Evening Barbie from 1960 in her premiere look. Her pale pink gown had a corseted strapless top, floral detailing at the hip, a train and white opera gloves.

She walked onto the pink carpet with a ruffle around her neck – like the doll – which she later removed. The gown was a custom design by Vivienne Westwood, a quintessentially British brand known for corseted outfits.

Based on the Mattel doll, the Barbie movie follows Robbie and Ryan Gosling’s Barbie and Ken as they leave Barbie Land and travel to the real world. The trailer for the film sees Barbie living a perfect life until things start to go wrong, including finding her signature arched feet have fallen flat.

In the real world they are hunted down by Will Ferrell, who plays the fictional chief executive of doll manufacturer Mattel. Barbie will be released in cinemas on July 21.
