Barbie and Bumble team up to help singles find love

The upcoming release of the Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, has caused Barbiecore to take over every aspect of our lives.

The one area the vibrant world of Barbie hadn’t touched was dating but, thanks to its collaboration with dating app Bumble, singles can now have the franchise infused into their search for love and friendship.

Bumble, the women-first dating and social networking app, said the collaboration will bring inspiration and encouragement from the film’s notable Barbies and Kens to its community.

Ffrom Wednesday July 12, Bumble users will be able to match with the many Barbies and Kens from the film to receive motivational messages as they navigate their dating life.

These fun motivational messages have been designed to inspire kindness among the app’s community by shining a light on Compliments, a message-before-match feature that helps people on Bumble to be even more intentional about starting conversations in a positive way.

A recent survey carried out by Bumble revealed that 68 per cent of people find themselves more interested in a potential romantic partner after receiving a compliment from them. And, 73 per cent of the respondents said compliments increased their self-confidence.

Talking about the Compliments feature, the founder and CEO of Bumble, Whitney Wolfe, said: “The power of kindness in creating healthy connections and relationships is undeniable, and Compliments is just one of the many ways we empower our community to lead by example and make more meaningful first moves.

“We’ve seen this approach lead to a higher likelihood of matching and quality chats amongst our members, and we’ll continue to engineer kindness into everything we build.”

The collaboration, which will last until July 26, will also give fans the chance to get to know the different Barbies and Kens featured in the cult movie.

Talking about it, Cameron Curtis, the executive vice-president of Warner Bros Pictures’ global digital marketing team, said: “Teaming up with Bumble for this experience has been a fun and creative way to showcase all the film’s Barbies’ and Kens’ personalities as they venture into the real world via the app, bringing their innate positivity with them.”
