A Merseyside barbershop at the heart of a community is celebrating 75 years in business.
City Saloon Barbers, in Wallasey, was opened in 1947 and has established itself as a pillar of the local community. Owner Debbie Rowley has been at the shop 28 years, and explained the secret to the barber's longevity.
Debbie told the ECHO: "I popped my head through the door 28 years ago to see if they needed anybody for a couple of days a week, and they did obviously. So here I am 28 years later.

"Bill, who used to own the shop worked here from being 14, he's never had any other job. He trained with his dad, went to college and just worked his way up."
Bill retired five years ago and handed over ownership of the barbers to Debbie. Debbie believes the community is the reason why the barbers has seen such a long lasting success. She said: "I think it's just so well established, and the atmosphere is great we try to have a laugh.
"Because we've been going so long, I'll be cutting lad's hair with their little boy sitting on their knee, when I used to cut their hair while they were sat on their dad's knee. The longevity of the place is so amazing. People still call it Bill's- it's never been called Bill's but it's because Bill used to be here."
Debbie refer to the shop as its 'own little community', and believes this atmosphere created is why people keep coming back. As well as this, she feels City Saloon offers a no nonsense service, she added: "I think we've stayed busy & lasted so long is because you just get a good haircut, no fuss, no taking 45 minutes for a short back and sides, just a good reasonably priced haircut."
