Bar launches new cocktail - flavoured like chips

A bar has launched a brand new chip- flavoured cocktail - where the glass is rimmed with chip spice. Lost City Adventure Golf in Hull, East Yorkshire, has created a new spicy cocktail called the 'Spice, Spice, Baby', incorporating alcohol, fruit juice - and an unusual final ingredient.

The drink features tequila, Cointreau and pineapple juice served in a glass that is rimmed with chip spice. The bar came up with the idea of using chip spice with its new drink in a nod to its venue being in Hull - where the chip topping was made famous in the UK.

Chip spice contains salt, paprika, tomato powder, onion powder and garlic powder and is often eaten sprinkled on chips rather than in your drink.

Marketing manager Alice Carr said: "When it came to refreshing our cocktail menu at our newest venue in Hull, we really wanted to celebrate the city after being welcomed with open arms by locals. So we sat down as a team to come up with a cocktail that incorporate one of Hull’s greatest inventions – chip spice.

"Spice, Spice, Baby mixes tequila, Cointreau and pineapple juice, served in a glass rimmed with chip spice. So far it’s been a popular choice with visitors who are looking for something a little different during happy hour."

Although this is Lost City Adventure Golf's first chip spice cocktail, it is not the first ever created in Hull. Hull restaurant owner John Science, who owned Yankee Burger before its closure in 2005, made the chip topping famous at his restaurant before local fish and chip shops started selling it.

He was introduced to the idea of using spiced salt and paprika by his friends, Rob and Brenda Wilson, after the visited America during the late 1970s.
