A new bar and brasserie is set to open at the site of a former Wetherspoons in Newport.
The former Queen's Hotel pub on Bridge Street was run by JD Wetherspoon until December 2020, when it was sold having not reopened after the first coronavirus lockdown.
The Grade-II listed venue, which originally opened in 1863 and is named after the then-reigning monarch Queen Victoria, reopened last year as Q Newport, featuring co-working spaces, offices, a bar and hotel accommodation.
And the owners of the space have confirmed further expansion plans with the opening of the Queen’s Bar & Brasserie on Tuesday, March 1.
According to its website, the restaurant will offer produce from local suppliers, a lunch and evening menu and afternoon tea options.

The new venture will feature head chef Iain Jackson who has previously worked at popular Welsh eateries such as the Old Custom House on Penarth marina.
“It’s all about the ingredients," Mr Jackson said. "[It's about] taking the best produce you can find and letting it do the talking.
"I want to bring the Queen's Brasserie to the next level-a place where guests want to come back time and time again."
Ahead of its official opening next week the restaurant will be open to the public for a soft launch on Saturday, February 26 in time for Wales' Six Nations tie with England. Menu options on the day will include smashed Welsh beef and Welsh rarebit burger, Welsh fire dragon buttermilk chicken burger and a portobello mushroom, onion chutney & avocado burger.
