Systems for 10 banks, including Barclays, Halifax, Lloyds, Nationwide and Monzo, crashed on Wednesday morning making it impossible for thousands of customers to access their accounts.
Customers reported issues of multiple online banking services being inaccessible on DownDetector, a website that tracks website outages across the UK and the rest of the world.
Bank customers reported issues with transferring funds, online banking and mobile banking apps.

- Lloyds
- HSBC
- Santander
- Nationwide
- atWest
- Monzo
- Yorkshire Bank
Mirror Online reports that some households were unable to buy food or pay bills as a result of the outage which was first flagged at around 6am.
Customers took to social media to report problems with their online banking.
One Barclays customer said: "Hi I transferred money to my husband's Barclays account to pay bills and I also paid my credit card bill but neither is showing on my account."

A NatWest customer said: "Are there issues with the app? Transferred money at 7am for food shopping, and it still hasnt arrived in my account."
In response to the technical issues, a Santander spokesperson said: “We experienced an issue with our Faster Payments this morning which is now resolved and payments are being processed.
"We apologise again to all our customers who were affected this morning. Customers expecting a payment that still hasn't been received, should contact the sender in the first instance.”
