Bank Holidays 2020: When is the next Bank Holiday?

As committed we are to making this year - 2020 - our best one yet, our mind is already thinking about when we can next have a break.

The UK has eight annual bank holidays in England and Wales, nine in Scotland and 10 in Northern Ireland.

There are the standard New Year 's Day, Christmas and Easter dates, as well as the odd May Bank Holiday and August Bank Holiday dates to prepare for - and perhaps head off somewhere nice.

So get that diary out, jot these down and get planning for every Bank Holidays of 2020.

When is the next Bank Holiday?

Sadly, you've still got a long while away until the next non-weekend day off, with everyone in England, Wales and Scotland having to wait until Easter, although at least it will be two in one go.

If you're Northern Irish... you'll be the envy of us all on the 17th March, as you'll bag a free day off for St Patrick's Day.

Do you get paid for working on a Bank Holiday?

You can get paid leave for a Bank Holiday, but it's down to the employer.

If your workplace is closed, then you can be told it's part of your annual leave entitlement.

Other employers give them off and pay for them on top of your entitlement.

You can have them deducted from your annual leave, added as extra holiday or have to work them but have the days added to your holiday allowance.

The best thing to do is check your contract.
