Bank Holiday DWP benefit payment dates - when to expect cash in August for tax credits and more

There is another summer Bank Holiday to look forward to next month - meaning that those claiming benefits will once again have to look out for a change to their payments. If you are in receipt of tax credits or other benefits, you will know that Bank Holidays can affect payment dates, with payments due on holidays instead arriving on a different date.

This is usually done just before the Bank Holiday takes place. But with the cost of living crisis causing people all over the country to tighten their purse strings more than ever, it can be vital to know exactly when your next payment is coming in.

With the next Bank Holiday coming up in August and the Christmas period fast approaching, the Gov.uk website has a helpful list of dates on which people in receipt of tax credits can expect to see payments arrive early, Bristol Live reports. Here is a list of the remaining dates for this year and the start of next year that will be affected.

August 29 - August 26

December 26 - December 23

December 28 - December 23

December 29 - December 28 (England and Scotland only)

When it comes to other benefits, you should receive your payments on the last working day before the Bank Holiday. This means that the tax credit payment date of August 26 should also apply to other benefit payments such as Universal Credit and PIP for the upcoming August bank holiday.

If your payment is late, the Gov.uk website advises checking the payment date on your award notice and contacting your bank before calling HMRC.
