Bangladesh reporter and ‘pookie’ passerby share sweet moment on camera

Wardrobe malfunctions, linguistic stumbles, unexpected interruptions – moments on live television often become grist for the viral mill. Sweet moments are rare, like how a passerby fixed the collar of a Bangladeshi reporter.

Ekhon TV journalist Redwan Ahmed Shawon was delivering a piece-to-camera from the streets of Dhaka and talking about the condition of Bangladeshi cricketer Tamim Iqbal’s health. Iqbal was put on life support after he suffered a heart attack during a Dhaka Premier League 2025 match on March 24.

In the video of the broadcast uploaded by Ekhon TV on their YouTube channel on Monday, a man wearing kurta pajama and skullcap stops for a moment and looks at Shawon. He then quickly fixes Shawon’s collar and promptly walks away from the frame. Shawon later shared the clip from the video on his Facebook profile and titled it “Pooki Huzur (cute sir)”.

Live television promises unscripted drama. But also horror. For example, when a Hindu priest slapped an NDTV reporter on live TV in 2014 for asking a question on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India Today’s Rajdeep Sardesai was heckled and abused by a crowd of Indians in the US after Modi won the Lok Sabha election in 2014. A Spanish reporter was infamously groped during a live broadcast in 2023 in Madrid. Similarly, two football fans kissed an NDTV journalist who was covering the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

So, we’ll take our wins where we get it – even if a win is just a cute moment on camera.
