Bangers & Cash star Derek Mathewson 'leaves wife for co-host 26 years his junior'

A top car auctioneer from the hit TV show Bangers and Cash has reportedly left his wife for his programme co-star, 26 years his junior.

Derek Mathewson, 71, is the smooth-talking star of the show which is broadcast on the Yesterday Channel.

He is said to have split from Sue, 71, after falling for married Vicki Ivens, 45, who worked in the office and appeared in several episodes.

But behind the scenes the pair reportedly grew increasingly close as time went on.

Dad-of-two Derek is now said to spend his evenings at Vicki's home after she split with her husband.

A source told The Sun: "Vicki told her husband in September last year that she was in love with Derek."

Speaking about his role as an auctioneer Derek said: "You sometimes have 500 people in front of you and no-one bids.

"You sort of get to know where you start on a car. If you've got a reserve then you've got to decide in which increments you'd like to go up.

"And then hopefully the hall takes over - but they don't start very well.

"I like getting out and about, it's a funny business. It was a bit nerve wracking when I first started but it doesn't bother me any more you just develop a bit of patter."

The Mirror has approached Derek's representatives for a comment.
