Aberfeldy saw the 2022/23 New Year in with possibly its most atmospheric party event to date.
Snowflakes floated through rainbow beams of projected light over a delighted crowd packing the town square for a free Hogmanay party.
Hugs, smiles and goodwill were back after a full two years of having the brakes put on gatherings of this friendly nature.
A giant stage had been constructed in front of the Fountain Bar and revellers were impressed with the standard of the bands sent to Highland Perthshire to entertain them.
Starting the evening off were Sandstorm, later cover band Hot Mess won hundreds of new fans for their varied repertoire.
The stars of the night were the Edinburgh-based Blondie tribute band Dirty Harry, who rocked the crowd with all the favourites.
“Aberfeldy Hogmanay Festival has been going from strength to strength over the last 10 years or so,” said local resident and pro photographer Iain Struthers, who captured the night’s festivities for the PA.
Iain has been helping to promote the event with photography and videography since around 2015.
“It’s success is mainly due to the hard work of Matthew Rogers from Perthshire Sound and Light Hire,” he added.
“When the pandemic forced the event to cancel in 2020/21, we got together to livestream the event from the Birks Cinema in Aberfeldy.
“This was a huge success and was viewed by several thousand people online. It’s great to see the event back to its former glory after a difficult few years.
“People travel from all over the country to spend Hogmanay in Aberfeldy and it’s easy to see why.
“There is always a great selection of live music, on-site catering and midnight firework display.”
While the event is free to attend, it relies on donations from local businesses and the public.
