Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson tweeted and deleted a vulgar slur aimed at an NFL fan after Sunday's defeat. The Ravens were beaten by the Jacksonville Jaguars in a dramatic game on Sunday night, with fans left fuming.
Jackson is in the middle of a contract stand-off with the Ravens, having reportedly rejected a deal worth $250million (£207m) due to wanting more guaranteed money. The former NFL MVP is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, but supporters are starting to lose patience.
One fan tweeted Jackson after the game and took aim at the ongoing uncertainty over his future, claiming the quarterback shouldn't have allowed the game to go down to a last-minute 67-yard field goal attempt.
The fan tweeted: "When someone asking for over $250 mil guaranteed like [Lamar] ... games like this should not come down to [kicker Justin Tucker]. Let Lamar walk and spend that money on a well-rounded team." Jackson's response escalated things further, however.
He replied: "Boy STFU y'all be cappin too much on this app mf never smelt a football field never did s*** but eat d***."
The tweet was left live for three hours before the Ravens star finally deleted it. Jackson is yet to comment on the defeat.
The Ravens are yet to comment on the tweet, but have only posted once on their Twitter account since Sunday's defeat. Speaking after the game, Jackson didn't do anything to hide his disappointment.
He said: "In practice everything looked good. We looked crisp in practice and stuff like that. We just missed opportunities. When you're playing in a game like this in a tough environment, you can't miss those. We need everything, catches, throws, points on the board."
Jackson also hit out a reporter after being asked for his feelings on the fact he also lost on his last trip to Jacksonville - back in college. He responded: "I lost again. F*** this. How would you feel if you lose? Exactly. That's how I feel."
