The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections recently addressed an error in which the Democratic vice presidential nominee, Gov. Tim Walz, was mistakenly spelled as 'Tom' Walz on some ballots that were emailed to overseas voters. According to Wendy Sartory Link, the county's elections supervisor, this error was limited to 257 electronic ballots.
Upon discovering the mistake, the office promptly took action to rectify the situation. Link stated that the error was brought to their attention within 18 hours of the ballots being sent out, and immediate corrective measures were implemented. The error was attributed to a manual change made by the vendor without proper authorization, resulting in the incorrect spelling of the candidate's name.
To address the issue, the affected voters were promptly notified via email and advised to download the updated ballot with the correct spelling of Gov. Tim Walz's name. Link reassured voters that despite the error, it would not impact the tabulation of votes cast.
